Cape St. Francis Overview Information Cape St Francis is famous for its old lighthouse at Seal Point and because it is the most southern point in the province. The town itself is fairly small with a quaint harbour and little thatch-roofed houses but it has excellent accommodation and conference facilities. It offers tourists an endless summer, due mostly to its mild temperatures but also to the many water ways that give rise to a never-ending list of water sports and activities that include surfing, swimming, jet skiing, deep sea fishing, water skiing, canoeing, windsurfing and yachting. It also has an 18-hole golf course.
Penguin Rescue and Penguin Rehabilitation Centre The Cape St Francis Nature Reserve is a 3 km stretch of coastal dune fynbos with a few milkwood and candlewood trees between the dunes. Fauna on the reserve include several small antelope, vervet monkey, otter, and mongoose. From August to December whales and dolphins can also be seen frolicking in the sea. Several short hiking trails traverse the park. Dogs are welcome, provided they are on leashes. Fishing is permitted from the shore - permits available at the post office in St Francis Bay.
