Situated in the Northern area of the majestic Drakensberg Mountain Range, Cathedral Peak and its surrounds forms the Hlambanja Wilderness Area.

Reaching a height of 3004 metres above sea level, Cathedral Peak is an ideal mountain retreat. Accessed via the villages of Winterton and Bergville and in close proximity to Royal Natal National Park, Cathedral Peak is a popular destination for nature lovers and a popular wedding venue.

Hiking trails, ranging from gentle rambles through the scenic countryside to more challenging climbing trails are offered. The area is also home to numerous bird species making bird spotting an interesting pastime for visitors and it is not unusual for hikers to share their trails with small buck, porcupines or even the odd baboon.

The numerous streams cascading down Cathedral Peak offer swimming opportunities, especially enjoyable after a long hike and trout fishermen can enjoy the peaceful surroundings while indulging in a spot of fishing.
