Clifton Overview Information

Clifton is possibly the most popular beach in Cape Town and one of the most sought after suburbs on the Atlantic Seaboard. On the way to Camps Bay, just past Bantry Bay, Clifton is made up of four coves, each with its own beach, called 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th beaches. What makes Clifton’s beaches especially popular is their shelter from the infamous South Easter and the beauty of the white, sandy beaches and rocky coves.

With Table Mountain providing an impressive backdrop, Clifton has become really trendy. Each of its beaches is accessed via stairs leading from the road and parking can become something of a nightmare in peak season. 4th beach is a blue flag beach and the busiest in summer. Clifton has no shops and only a couple of restaurants, which means that at night, once all of the crowds have left, this becomes a wonderful place to stay. Camps Bay is just down the road and its pavements are lined with trendy bars, restaurants and clubs.
