Darnall Overview Information
The small village community of Darnall is situated just inland from Zinkwazi Beach on the far North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. The village got its name from a prospector, David Brown, who was one of the first settlers in the area. He purchased a farm in the area and named it Darnall after his hometown in the United Kingdom. When sugar cane came from Mauritius it was planted on the North coastlands, and Brown set up a sugar mill in Darnall. He was not very successful and so Liege Hulett took over from him, and that is how Tongaat Hulett started.

Darnall is surrounded by vast fields of sugarcane and offers a fine Country Club with an excellent golf course. Darnall has a fine primary school and an Anglican church. The village is close to the Harold Johnson Nature Reserve and is within easy driving distance from the Tugela River mouth.
