Lambert\'s Bay is a popular town with eco-tourists and locals and is just 280 km from Cape Town. This is crayfish country, and Lambert\'s Bay is well known for seafood delicacies such as harders, galjoen, snoek and the west coast lobster. Lambert\'s Bay was named after a British admiral who charted the coastline between 1826 and 1940. Boat trips provide opportunities to spot endemic Heaviside dolphin, Dusky dolphin, and seasonal Southern Right and Humpback whale. Bird Island, dense with breeding colonies of gannets, penguins, cormorants and seals, provides bird watchers with hours of delight and wetland birds, such as flamingos, pelicans and waders, can be seen at the Jakkals River Lake.

In spring, wildflowers decorate the surrounding land in a carpet of colour, particularly within Lambert\'s Bay Nature Reserve. Unique hiking trails in Lambert\'s bay take one across bare dunes and elephant-like rocks.
