Oyster Bay Overview Information

Oyster Bay is essentially for nature lovers. There are magnificent sand dunes, woods, river deltas, lagoons, beaches and wetlands to explore and numerous hiking trails in the area. Other activities include horse riding, mountain biking and fishing.

Oyster Bay is working hard to conserve the African Oyster Catcher, able to open mussels with their beaks, and there is thus controlled use of 4x4 vehicles and motorbikes in the beach area.

This area has a rich history with the discovery of Early Stone Age tools in the Oyster Bay Middens (Danish word for 'rubbish heap').
