Rhodes Overview Information

Tucked away in the highlands of the Eastern Cape on the border with Lesotho lies the picturesque village of Rhodes. Rhodes radiates the timeless charm and beauty of a Victorian-era village, and is surrounded by pristine rivers and magnificent mountains. Hiking, mountain biking, horse riding and fly-fishing abound in this pristine environment.

The Tiffindell Ski and Alpine Resort was established close to the village in 1993 on the slopes of the 3001 metre high Ben McDhui, the only ski resort in sub-Saharan Africa. In the winter months from June to August, over 5 000 visitors from all over South Africa take part in the snow fun activities on the slopes.
