Riviersonderend is a little village in a farming region on the N2 highway, about 160km from Cape Town. The village is well-known for its friendly rural atmosphere and warm hospitality and was named after the river that flows through it. The source of the Riviersonderend (river without end) is in the Hottentots-Holland Mountains and seems to meander "without end".

Sightings of the Blue Crane, South Africa's national bird, draw visitors to the Riviersonderend Valley - a fruit, wheat and wool producing area. Riviersonderend is rich in fynbos and wildflowers and offers nature lovers mountain and river scenery. The village is really well positioned to explore the surrounding Overberg region

Outdoor activities include golf, swimming, fishing and canoeing in the river. Major beaches are only an hour's drive away. Hiking is also popular and visitors can choose between the 17 km Riviersonderend canyon hike, in the Hottentots-Holland Nature Reserve, or the nearby Kleinbergie hiking trail that passes signal canons originally part of the Overberg Signal Canyon system.
