Springs Overview Information
Springs
Springs is a quiet 'suburb' in Johannesburg, it gets its name from the many natural underground springs. It used to be a farming community until coal was found and it became a coal mining town which transported coal to the gold mines via railway. In 1904, gold was founded and by the 1930's, Springs was one of the lrgest gold mine communities in the world, with a total of 8 mines.

Climate:
Springs is in the Gauteng region and so enjoys a moderate climate with hot summer months and icy cold winter months. The rainfall is usually found during the summer months as heavy thunderstorms.
