Van Reenen Overview Information
Van Reenen is situated on the summit of Van Reenen's Pass, on the border between KZN and the Free State. Passing the village a short distance to the south, visitors to the area will find Windy Corner, a viewing place with a magnificent panorama.

Van Reenen is home to the smallest Roman Catholic church in the world, The Llandaff Oratory. The 8 seat church was built by a father, in memory of his son who died in a mining accident.

The nearby Sandspruit Conservancy offers excellent opportunities for hiking. The reserve offers an abundance of wildlife, including the  largest herd of black wildebeests found in any private reserve. Zebra, blesbuck, kudu, impala, eland, red hartebeest and blue wildebeest can also be seen here, as well as leopard together with other large cats. Trails vary in length from day hikes to longer two day, and even three day trails passing through patches of indigenous trees, crossing several streams and passing a few dams.

The Van Reenen area is also ideal for bird watching, offering a wide variety of species, an impressive number of raptors. Other attractions in the Van Reenen's area include the Golden Gate National Park with its majestic sandstone cliffs; Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park, and the Sterkfontein Dam Reserve.
