Witsand
Witsand, translated means "white sand" was aparantly inhabited by a small Bushmen tribe until the 19th century when the white farmers started to settle in the town. Witsand is a coastal town surrounded by the Breede River Estuary and Indian Ocean.The closest airport to Witsand is in George.

Attractions:
Witsand is most popular for its largest winter migration population of the Southern Right Whales where you can watch the whales with their young from the shore. There is safe swimming for the whole family with lifeguards on duty. Besides whale watching you can also venture into the sea or river and try out some windsurfing, fishing, snorkelling or waterskiing. There is also a pontoon about 35km up the Breede River.

Witsand is in the Western Cape which enjoys a mediterranean climate with hot summers and cold, wet winters.
